On February 25th 2012 I went to Edgeley Park to photograph my first game. After a pretty awful start to our first season out of the football league, the messiah (Jim Gannon) had returned to fix Didi Hamman's team of social loafers. He had an awful lot of work to do, but a fantastic 1-0 victory over high flyers Wrexham gave us the belief that he may well be able to save us from the brink again.

County were gifted a goal after the eccentric Wrexham keeper Mayebi punched the ball into his own net. They hung on for the 3 points, the moral victory was much more important than the result on the day. There were more heavy defeats to come that season, but Jim turned it around and we ended the season on a flourish.
